The Habitat Connection
The Habitat Connection is a quarterly publication offering news and information from the 17 local Habitat affiliates in West Virginia. The newsletter is distributed with an effort to bring awareness to the great need for safe, decent, affordable homes and to illustrate the work being done by Habitat affiliates in communities throughout West Virginia.

Since 1987, affiliates in our State have provided safe, decent, affordable homes to nearly 700 partner families and served thousands with home rehabs and repairs and homebuyer education classes. In 2012, Habitat for Humanity will celebrate 25 years in West Virginia! Habitat affiliates have partnered with West Virginia families all throughout our State to construct nearly 700 new Habitat homes and served thousands with rehabilitations and home buyer education. It has taken 10,000,000 nails, over 1 million volunteer hours, and 700 very special West Virginia families to pave the way for this significant West Virginia milestone.
Partnering with local affiliates, Habitat for Humanity of WV is embarking on an ambitious campaign to build 25 NEW HOMES with 25 hard-working, deserving families throughout our State. We need YOUR help to reach this goal. Join us in the year long celebration - with your support, we'll continue to forever change the lives of West Virginia families.

State Partner Spotlight: Appalachian Power Company
Habitat for Humanity is extremely pleased to spotlight Appalachian Power Company, a unit of American Electric Power, as one of our statewide partners. Appalachian Power, with support from the AEP Foundation, supports Habitat's Energy Efficient Building program in West Virginia. The organization's goal is to "support and play an active, positive role in the communities where we live and work."
In 2011, with Appalachian Power's support, Habitat for Humanity of WV hosted the first residential Energy Efficient Building Conference in our State. Additionally, Habitat affiliates completed 16 Energy Star certified new homes with our partner families. Appalachian Power has a strong tradition of leadership in providing services to the communities they serve.
